ok... So I'm sitting on campus and I'm supposed to be doing work... Instead, I'm reading April's issue of Fitness. Here are some random stats (because you all know how I love randomness!)
  • It only takes 1-4 cigarettes per day to quintuple your risk of dying from lung cancer (according to Tabacco Control)
  • Holding in a sneeze can cause nasal-cartilage fractures, nosebleeds, busrt eardrums, hearing loss, vertigo, detached retinas or temporary facial swelling!
  • "Torch extra calories effortlessly by celebrating TV-Turnoff week from April 24-30. If you're a typical four-hour-a-day viewer like most American women, you could burn an extra 2,300 calories just by switching off the set for seven days and spending that time cooking, doing crafts or shopping instead"
  • "According to a study published in the Wisconsin Medical Journal, women who vacationed only once in two years were more likely to be depressed and suffer marital disatisfaction than those who took vacations twice or more per year."

wow, typing all that out was SO much better than doing school work!

Interesting that you'd actually quote that. That's the most sexist bullshit I have ever heard. Sounds like catholic supression not constructive weight burning

oh c'mon, lighten up. it is a magazine designed by women for women, so give them a break for listing some activities that some women might typically enjoy. and yes, while they might not be burning as many calories doing those activities rather than some strength training, the point was to do something enjoyable that would give you a decent amount of exercise instead of plopping yourself in front of the tv.
and while we're getting picky... "weight burning"? "burning" weight isn't necesarily a good thing. muscle weighs more than fat and the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn at rest. so losing weight by burning calories is healthy. =D just fyi...
and Catholic suppression? I don't understand...
BTW - way to post anonymously
